On Saturday 28th November 2009, the Chairman of the Memorial Hall & Recreation Ground Trust, Andrew Vickers, welcomed invited guests and after a short speech the Mayor of Rushcliffe, Peter McGowan, officially opened the refurbished Hall complex at 12 noon on Saturday 28th November 2009. Joseph Higgins presented the Mayor with a gift and Lydia Wattley presented the Mayoress, Deirdre McGowan, with a posy of flowers. Once the ribbon had been cut all visitors entered the building for a guided tour of the new facilities.
The new Wise Men Library was then officially opened by Councillor John Cottee, Nottinghamshire County Council Cabinet Member for Culture & Regeneration.
A buffet lunch and bubbly were served in The Moonrakers which had been prepared by a sub-committee of hard working trustees.
After a short break the complex was then open to the general public to view the hall facilities from 3.00 to 5.00 pm.
